PEARLS THE LIVING JEWEL

Christianne Douglas founded Coleman Douglas Pearls in September 1989 as a design studio specialising in Natural and Cultured pearls. Our aim has always been to offer an investment in style and value by utilising our expert pearl knowledge coupled with an excellent network of suppliers.

Our expertise enables us to select and obtain the most appropriate pearls for the unique and innovative pearl jewellery that we create for our clients.

Our private client base, gradually built by recommendation only, includes many pearl lovers, among them members of the European aristocracy, international government figures, members of the fashion elite and celebrities including most recently Emily Watson and Grace Jones. The invaluable feedback that our clients give us has always been central to our designs.

Each collection was at first divided into four ranges:

Couture - a purely made to measure range, creating truly personalised pieces.

Chelsea – conservatively designed jewellery with a twist of originality.

Bridal – rich and vibrant designs for the bride and delicate pieces for her bridesmaids.

Fashion – fresh and exciting designs that are kept in line with couture fashion

On 8th June 1994 Coleman Douglas Pearls presented their first fashion show at the Chelsea Festival, alongside Amanda Wakeley, Vivienne Westwood and other high profile British designers.

The collections are presented twice a year alongside contemporary couture trends and are shown at London Fashion Week, Première Classe and the JCK Las Vegas Show.

This allows us to communicate directly our expertise and passion for pearls.

Perles de Tahiti GIE commissions Coleman Douglas Pearls to design three distinctly different jewellery collections to promote the use of Tahitian Pearls within Fashion Shows, Exhibitions and Editorial using the Coleman Douglas Pearls brand name.

The Coleman Douglas Pearls’, Victorian/Edwardian Collection –

1 - Formal and structured in its design this collection utilises the beauty of Tahitian Pearls and silk organza, Tahitian Shell Nacre and Rainbow Moonstone to produce pieces evocative of the elegance of that era.

2 - Less formal in its feel, Coleman Douglas Pearls’ Audrey Hepburn Inspired Collection, epitomises the elegant chic of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  This two tonal collection uses faceted rock crystal beads that bounce light in a myriad directions while sumptuous Tahitian pearls reflect a rich lustre of their own.

3 - By contrast the Coleman Douglas Pearls’, Biker Chic Collection plays on the different textures and contradictions between soft leather woven into a barbed wire effect and the lustrous beauty of Tahitian Pearls.  With great strength of design these pieces have a rugged naturalness all of their own.

September 2004

“Joy of Life ” 2005 spring/summer collection is unveiled

A natural evolution of Coleman Douglas Pearls’ must-have Secret Garden Collection.  The Joy of Life collection expands on the beauty of nature and the stimulus of music and colour that bring joy and laughter to the early life of a child.  The main collection “The Joy of Life” is divided into two elements.

The Joy of Colour

This Collection is translated into the abundance of new life and of the vibrancy of flowers emerging from the more rugged beauty of a rockery.  Using a rich miscellany of stones and pearls, that convey the joy and richness of new life…

The Joy of Music

A black and white theme has been developed from Coleman Douglas Pearls’, Audrey Hepburn Inspired Collection. Using the cool translucence of rock crystal and the lustrous curves of Tahitian Pearls to create a look that is more structured and formal than the Joy of Colour pieces, but still fluid and abundant, evocative too of the tinkling of piano keys.
